This is great news. One for the good guys. Let’s hope all goes well. Last week, I wrote a post at the National Catholic Register about Sayed Musa being put to death in Afghanistan for being a Christian.
Thanks to Kristi for the heads up from Senator Richard Lugar:
Thank you for contacting me regarding the reported detainment of Mr. Sayed Mossa (also spelled Mr. Syed Musa) in Afghanistan. I appreciate this opportunity to respond.
My staff recently participated in a conference call with Ambassador Jim Keith, Assistant Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, regarding Mr. Mossa. Ambassador Keith informed my staff that thanks to international pressure, particularly from the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, the government of Afghanistan has placed Mr. Mossa’s prosecution on hold. Ambassador Keith believes that within a matter of weeks, Mr. Mossa will be quietly released and granted asylum in another country, possibly Pakistan where his family currently resides.

Keep praying and contacting your legislators to ensure this comes off.

I emailed my representatives here in Australia including the prime minister and opposition leader about this – not something I normally do. I've heard nothing from them as yet. I'm very glad about his coming freedom but not yet convinced. I'm finding it difficult to understand why we are supporting a government that does this sort of thing. I thought the Taliban were the evil ones. What happens when we leave "after" the war?

It would be a good thing to let the powers that be that Mr. Musa's life will be monitored hereafter. Too often a person of his high profile after having embarrassed the state will disappear. Praying

It is wonderful that Mr. Musa will be released in Afghanistan. But is it realistic to think he will be any safer in Pakistan? I think a majority of Muslim families there would believe that a convert to another religion is to be put to death. Might his family then become his executioners? More prayer is urgently needed.
