How come every time pro-lifers bring up religion we’re shouted down about the separation of church and state. But Obama’s using scripture to make a push for amnesty for illegal aliens is all well and good. And the thing is he’s actually not pushing for amnesty. He’s using scripture to convince hispanics to vote for him because he knows amnesty is a non-starter. So in essence here, Obama’s quoting the Bible to get votes. What a guy.
This from the guy who can’t bring himself to quote the Declaration about God given rights.

If we are going to have Scripture then first we ought to go back and have an Easter proclamation and good wishes from the WH, as if actually believing…

Skunky porn comes to mind.
He should start with the basics like the 10 commandments and stop the slaughter of millions of babies in the womb or the Christians in Africa or the Middle East at the hands of Muslims. Life and survival is basic. Illegal immigrants being turned into citizens so that they vote for him in 2012 is a hypocritical manipulation of Biblical thought. That man is shameless and immoral.

I guess we're 'populating this country' quite a bit less, no thanks to you, Mr. President.

A newly begotten soul migrates to the womb and then into the world by birth. This unscrupulous man voted four times to leave them unattended to die by being exposed to the elements. When American citizens are treated equally, then and only then, "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal, and endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." The immigrants at Ellis Island and Angel Island came here to work for a better life, not to suck up the benefits of the children of the citizens. When the children of the citizens receive the same legal recognition, rights and benefits as illegal immigrants, then there will be social Justice. Justice, and social Justice are predicated on intent. The common good is essential for a nation's prosperity and security. Those who hold American citizenship in contempt, Patriotism and the virtues of Justice, and our founding principles in contempt have no legal standing in a court of law to any entitlement or the vote, because they have forfeited their citizenship and are illegal aliens starting with Obama, whose intent is not the common good but his own glorification. George Washington Obama is not. Thomas Jefferson Obama is not. Abraham Lincoln, Obama is not. Obama is every aborted child, every soul scraped from the womb in America. Tax payers, voters, every child unborn. Obamba's "kingdom for a horse" will bring him the pale horse.

I am by no means a fan of President Obama, however, I would like to point out a few things:
1. The President is speaking to a group at the "Hispanic Prayer Breakfast" so I don't think it is entirely unfitting for Obama to quote a verse from the Bible, even if he has proven to be a rather anti-Christian force in the government.
2. I don't find anything he said to be wrong (which is usually not the case, I assure you). We need immigration reform. And perhaps the route the president wants to take is not the best, I don't know. But reform is needed, because the families of thousands of Mexican immigrants are at stake. There is a reason for the existing immigration laws, yes, and the laws should not be broken. But justice can not exist in any christian sense if there is no mercy.

I think that's accurate Daniel W., he feels free to utilize quotation from the Bible when he feels like it.
Whether this is the best step towards immigration reform remains to be seen after more specifics have been laid out. Agree that the way the wealthy elites in this country exploit illegals is not Christian.

Agree with Daniel W. and Anonymous 9:58 pm. Some, if not many, of these working people are being literally abused (beat up) and exploited by companies in this country. The companies know they can get away with it because of the language barriers and the fear the illegals have of the police (both because of the police corruption and tyranny in their own country and fear of deportation). If our nation becomes the cesspool of drug cartels and killings that Mexico looks like today, we might be looking to go somewhere else too. It's inhumane to consider deporting the lot of them. They're here. They've been here for years. They're families have grown up here. They're hard, diligent workers. They may not be overly friendly or integrated but that's as much our culture's fault as theirs for not welcoming them and wanting them to fall off the face of the earth. Yes they cost us money. But they cost us a lot more money as illegals than they would as legal, law-abiding citizens paying taxes and participating fully in the system. The ones I observe in my neighborhood where there is a small Hispanic Christian Church are at least a culture where the women don't dress like sluts and the men wear coats and ties. When they tackle a job, like the new church roof, they get it done and done right. Yes, they drive cars a bit cavalierly but defensively, don't follow all the parking rules, and have picked up the habit of standing in the street playing while you're trying to drive through, and they give their little children a lot more free-range roaming than we feel safe with but so far none of them have been run over. These are human beings. They are not trying to steal something from us. They are trying to attain a good life for themselves and their families. I say let them. Lois in Indy

I wish that people would consider thinking about the circumstances of a person who entered the United States in violation as a crime, which it is, but consider as well the realities these souls might face without the opportunities that they find here.
In addition, please try to understand that many real Americans(those born here through the grace of God) commit crimes everyday. Everyday, these same criminals are ofered "plea bargaims", which to my knowledge and experience are never, ever viewed as amnesty.
Why can we not com up with some alternative plea, to a lesser crime, which, indeed, should be proper to the circumstances of the crime but with an eye towards it being a plea bargain arraingement and not simply amnesty.
I am a very conservative person but I see this issue as a balancing of both justice and mercy.
Just my thoughts.
Thank you.

@Lois from Indy This is not about immigrants. This is about an underhanded attempt to steal the presidency. Vote Obama out of office and then let us go help the immigrant

It makes no sense to try and help illegal invaders who displayed such disloyalty to their crummy countries and citing how one ought treat individuals is a non sequitur when it is the case that the "individuals" number in the 100's of thousands
