Al Stefanelli, the Georgia State Director for American Atheists, today called for the “eradication” of fundamentalist Christians. You might remember this group as the one who recently filed a lawsuit to remove the WTC cross.
Just in case you don’t know, “fundamentalist” just means someone who goes to Church more than Christmas or Easter.
If there was any doubt that “eradication” was always where “the brights” were heading this should put an end to that. He seems to think we want atheists dead so he wants to get us before we get him.
Stefanelli wrote at Atheists.org:
The fact is that fundamentalist Christians and radical Muslims are not interested in coexisting or getting along. They have no desire for peace. They do not want to sit down with us in diplomatic efforts to iron out our differences and come to an agreement on developing an integrated society.
They want us to die.
Their interpretation of the Bible and Koran are such that there is no other course of action but to kill the infidel, and if anyone believes otherwise they are only fooling themselves. It is not just in the best interests of atheists to be intolerant of fundamental Christianity and radical Islam, but it is also in the best interest of mainstream believers within these faiths, as well. Moderates and even Progressives who stand in support of extremists just because there is a claim to the same deity are not doing themselves any favors. Fundamental Christians make all Christians look bad and radical Muslims make all Muslims look bad.
The growing ranks of fundamental Christians and radical Muslims should be of concern to everyone who is not part of these two groups. Everyone. Again, bigotry, discrimination, hatred, coercion, terrorism, slavery, misogyny and everything else that is part and parcel of fundamental Christianity and radical Islam should not be tolerated and anyone who agrees with this needs to adopt extremist points of view that includes the intolerance of their very existence. The only reason these groups exist is because they are allowed to, and we, as a society, are allowing them to…
But the underbelly of fundamentalist Christianity and radical Islam does not operate in the legal system. They don’t respond to lawsuits, letters, amicus briefs or other grass-roots campaigns and they must, must, must be eradicated. As long as they are allowed to exist, we will continue to be inundated with accounts of buses, buildings, markets and abortion clinics being blown up, rape victims being murdered for adultery, wives being beaten (sometimes to death), airplanes being flown into buildings, people being tortured and sometimes beheaded for blasphemy, people being burned for witchcraft and sorcery and all the other horrific, inhumane and insane practices that are part of fundamental Christianity and Radical Islam.
If we don’t take a stand and, as a society, insist that these doctrines and beliefs are treated just the same as they would be if religion were not part of the equation, we will become extinct not due to natural selection, but at the hands of those who believe that the supernatural has made the selection.
Man, who would’ve thought that atheists could be so violent.
Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot were kinda’ fond of “eradicating” too, weren’t they?
Update: Stefanelli now seems to be saying that he didn’t mean eradicate eradicate. He just meant filing more lawsuits or something. Puhleeeze.

“He just meant filing more lawsuits or something.” That is exactly what he meant. How long do you think it will take to eradicate every fundamentalist Christian in court? Oh, Maybe forever. And every lawsuit is paid for by the taxpayer at whatever amount the atheist says is his price. To garner points for his lawsuit because the old one is getting worn out, Stefanelli lumps together Muslims who he cannot sue in a court of law if they are not citizens, and terrorists who he cannot sue in a court of law until he can catch them, and if he does catch the terrorists, the government will have at them first, and fundamentalist Christians. Guess who he can catch. There is one lawsuit that cost $800,000.000 per month and these lawsuits go on for years and years.
Actually, the atheist has no business deciding if, when or where any religious persons might choose to pray or remember loved ones in prayer, or to choose for the deceased loved ones how they can express their Faith as they rest in peace. If the cross at the WTC is their last will and testament, and for many it is, who are the atheists of any stripe to remove the victims’ free expression of Faith, and speech and testimony posthumously? All public places are held in joint and common tenancy by each and every citizen and he who would deny to another person their civil rights forfeits his own citizenship and may not use the courts to fatten his bank account. There are no serious atheists. If there were no God, there would be no atheists. G.K Chesterton. Let the atheist explain his existence before the court without using God’s Name, “I AM” and then let him be still and quiet.
Stefanelli has smeared Christians very badly, and “oh, I really did not mean it”, it still remains a rather vicious slander, and the court ought to take into consideration his bearing false witness against his neighbor, dividing the community, inciting to riot, disturbing the peace, spreading slander and not promoting the general welfare. If and when he goes to court add perjury.

To argue the point, I've never heard of fundamentalist Christians who want to murder, but I've heard many radical Muslims who do so in great numbers (both in terms of murderers and victims).

Militant atheism is a oxymoron. Atheists ought to live among us in peace and harmony for they have excluded themselves from "all men created equal","and endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights". The Declaration of Independence, one of our founding principles. The atheist may not like it but it is what it is. Another atheist, Madalyn Murray O'Hair went to the USSR after her victory banning prayer in public school. The atheist waited there for two weeks but the USSR did not let her in. There can be only one tyrant in every village. So, even the USSR used it's God-given free will to exclude atheism. Hopefull, the USA will learn from the USSR and exclude atheism from denying every citizen the freedom inscribed in our founding principles.

This is pure hate speech. This man is inciting murder on the grounds of disbelief in fundamental atheism. Being an obvious fundamental atheist with a propensity to murder should he not be the first victim of his own policy?

So out of touch with reality that it's not worth a point-by-point answer. But I hear so much hurt in this man. Let's pray for him. As Christians we can't return evil for evil. But we can ask for St. Anthony to soften his heart. It's badly in need of softening.

Think about it….here is an atheist whining that Christians and Muslims are extremists who promote hatred, slavery, discrimination,
intolerance, bigotry, terrorism etc. and then he turns around and calls for their extermination! The irony of it kept me laughing for 5 minutes. Wasn't the last guy that called for the eradication of a people Adolf Hitler? I think Stefanelli must be a kindred spirit.
What kills me is atheists use ridicule and hyperbole to attack religious belief systems. They mock the Bible, miracles and other beliefs because must be accepted on faith. But Atheism the same? Since atheists can't prove that god does not exist isn't their disbelief faith based? Of course it is! Then Atheism is a religion, their doctrine is 'there is no god' (accepted on faith) and their 'bible' is the 'theory' of evolution. It is just as much a belief system as any organized religion.
These guys are very entertaining we need to keep them around.

The Government does classify atheism as a Religion. I have always contended that when the Government bans religions like Christianity from the Public Square, they are in essence, endorsing Nothing. Since atheists believe in Nothing, and they are classified as a religion, the Government is endorsing atheism, and we should be suing for the violation of the establishment clause.
Furthermore one of the suits about ground zero said they would drop the suit if atheists could be represented with a symbol. I say they already are represented with nothingness. Putting a symbol up would go against the nothingness in which they believe so therefore the lawsuit is baseless.

@Iowa Mike: The atheist does not and cannot explain his existence. And the atheist only became an atheist when he used his God-given free will to repudiate God.

"As long as they are allowed to exist…" because no one can exist without the atheists' permission
