Remember the show that was being talked about a few months ago “Good Christian B!#ches.” Well, there was a bit of outrage from the Christian community. You know how nutty those Christians are who are so sensitive that they don’t think it’s funny to have their religion slurred on national television.
So now they seem to be calling it “GCB” which supposedly is short for “Good Christian Belles” but oddly still works for the original name. So we’ve finally got a preview and somehow the preview is actually more offensive than the original title.
I’m sure they’re going to use Kristin Chenoweth’s avowed Christianity as a shield from criticism. But if you want to see what Hollywood thinks of Christians, check it out. Not only are you shallow and petty, you’re also sex obsessed. You know, kinda’ like Hollywood.

Really?
You find this offensive?
(Well..besides the general stupidity of television which is to be expected).
Have you hung around the comments boxes of Christian/Catholic blogs?
Have you seen how vicious they are? Even among their own?
Have you seen the way that some Christian/Catholic bloggers refer to those they disagree with?
This is totally realistic…it's a metaphor. And it's true. Is *your* blog a place of sweetness and Christian charity and niceness towards all – even your fellows in faith?

The absence of the acknowledgment of the rational human soul in both the first poster and GCB removes any redeeming social grace and places it with pornography, a lie about human sexuality and the immortal human being. Bitches are, of course, female dogs and the animals act out of instinct. Human beings, both male and female have free will, reason, and a destiny to pursue. This piece does nothing to help anybody in any way and lies about human nature.

No doubt the irony of leaving an anonymous comment about lack of charity is lost on this person.

Well, you can only write what you know and Hollywood doesn't know Christianity.

While I'm pretty certain I will not be watching this show, as someone who grew up in the south, this stereotyped preview is actually sadly pretty right on. It was hard enough to be one of the 2-3% of Catholics in my town, dealing with the "you're going to hell for being Catholic" accusations since I was about 9years old, but to then couple it by it coming from those who presented themselves as model saints while pretty much acting just as this preview shows was quite painful.
I don't advocate for this show, or for anything that will lilkely not show the overwhelming amount of positives that Christians offer the world, but I'm not going to be so fast to pretend like there isn't some pretty serious truth in the stereotype the've presented.

There needed to be more warning about the disgusting sexual inuendo in this video, I am not clicking on any more videos on this blog. I realize the post is critical of the commercial and show and not condoning it, but fair warning would help those wanting to practice custody of the senses.

I guess this is their version of All American Christian. They really really hate us.

Shallow, petty, and sex obsessed? I'd have gone with Deadly Boring.

Is it my imagination, or did they pick a guy who looks like Mitt Romney to play the cad depicted above.

Honestly… it seemed like a whole lot of "Christians" I know. While its sad that there isn't an example in the show (yet, maybe there is and we just haven't seen it yet?) of what a real Christian woman should strive to be, unfortunately this is a "stereotype" that I have seen and met all too frequently.
