On February 5, 2012 Father Sammie Maletta delivered a Homily at St. John the Evangelist Parish in St. John, Indiana. This Homily addressed how President Obama is threatening our Religious Freedom and declaring war with the Catholic Church. I normally have a rule about videos and if they’re over 5 minutes I don’t put them up but this is the greatest summation I’ve heard of how we got here and what it really means. No one sums it up quite like Father Maletta. This is great.

Stand up and applaud! Amen! I would love to play that loudly at every town hall meeting, campaign stop, and political fundraiser if I could.

The bishops were happy with Obamacare when they thought they had a sweetheart backroom deal. Their deal would have left every Catholic business owner with the choice of funding abortions or closing their business. Then Obama doublecrossed the bishops and they are unhappy. Somehow I can’t work up any sympathy for the bishops.

"Obama doublecrossed the bishops"
Well that was about all you had any idea about in your drivel which unfortunately comes up every day in your anti-catholic postings.
What a homily and how long have I waited to finally hear our faithful being challenged about how they vote, Brilliant Father Sammie

Although you can't drum up the sympathy, Anonymous, you should be upset at what's happening.
This homily was awesome. If only all the churches had him saying this from the pulpit.

Braaaaaaaa-vo! 'Bout time a priest said it!
Ahem. Didn't I recall "someone" say something about a "Creative Minority..?"
Looks like "Creative Minority" time for the Church is…NOW! Hopefully, the bishops will have learned "the lazy man's way {state sponsored} to charity" is not the way to go. Perhaps now they'll put $i$ter ObamaCare, aka Carol Keehan, in her place.

Here is another homily on it: http://saintwilliams.org/podcast/?p=episode&name=2012-02-05_fjr020512.mp3 given by Fulwiler here.

I used to take a group of teens every year to a youth conference sponsored by St. John's, when I worked in metro Chicago. It is a great parish top to bottom, and has been for years.

How do we lovingly encourage our priests to do the same?

Courage at last! Thanks be to God

Great sermon, but WHY is he ASKING BHO to ALLOW us to be Catholic?!?!?! BHO does not have that authority, but we do have that right. We need to be convicted of this, and not take on the persona of a beggar!!!!!

Amen to Anonymous at 3:43!
Some Bishops and this priest indicate that catholic hospitals charities and all other services will have to shut down. why should The Church be willing to roll over? Another possible response, and I say the true, good, and beautiful response, is to say: thanks for your legislated suggestions on how the Church should conduct ourselves, we've thought it over and we have concluded that we wil continue to do things as we see them to be best done in our interest, and in mankind's interest, and we will, as ever, conduct ourselves and our activities according to the ancient and true faith of the Holy Catholic Church.
Make Obama come get us. Call his bluff.

Preach it Father!
March 3, 2012 at 4:52 pm
Hilltop, you are exactly correct. If all of the Catholic agencies band together, there is no way the federal government will succeed. What Would Jesus Do? Keep on healing the sick and feeding the hungry until they dragged him away. The Bishops and all of the faithful should do the same.

So it's OK for the state to take over healthcare, loot and force people in the name of "healthcare" but when Catholics don't like what the state does with this newly bestowed power they are all shocked and outraged. Duh. Put the state in charge of defining marriage and you'll get the same thing. Live by the sword, you will die by the sword.

Every parish in our diocese read a letter from our bishop regarding the HHS mandate. I wish every parish, church, synagogue, and mosque would play this homily. Obama's attack on religious liberty affects us all.

it seems that we Catholics have "Congregation Captains" too.

"I want you to begin a new life, a new way of living: slumber no more in the sleep of foolish indifference. Be a real champion for me, please. I told you that I want you to be a lamb, a follower of the true lamb. Now I'm telling you that I want you to be a lion, roaring loudly in holy Church, your virtue and your voice so strong that you help bring back to life the children lying dead with in her." St. Catherine of Siena
