The Obama administration is threatening to cut off birth control funding for low-income women in Texas because Texas has cut off the state’s taxpayer-funding of Planned Parenthood.

This is rather ironic since Obama is threatening to destroy religious liberty in this country because he says the need for women to have access to contraceptives is sooooooo dire that all other concerns must fall by the wayside.

But it seems that something is even more important to Obama than contraception. And it’s…funding Planned Parenthood.

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told Texas that unless they fund Planned Parenthood the federal government will withdraw funding for a Texas program providing more than 100,000 poor women with birth control and other health services.

Texas Governor Rick Perry called it an “egregious federal overreach.”

The Weekly Standard reports:

As was the case when Indiana cut off funding to Planned Parenthood, there are plenty of clinics that provide birth control but don’t perform abortions. In other words, the Obama administration thinks taxpayer-funding of Planned Parenthood is more important than women’s access to birth control.

So the list of priorities would probably be something like 1) Abortion. 2) Contraception and #3,479) Religious Liberty.
