Here’s a story that details how looney we’ve become as a culture.
A chick who says she’s a dude wants to be allowed to be an R.A. in the all male dorm at the University of Miami. The university pretty much said “but you’re a dude” and then the chick freaked and filed a complaint because she says she is so a dude…even though she’s a chick. Got it?
CBS reports:
Kaeden Kass, who was born a female but identifies himself as male, filed a complaint with the dean of students and the Miami University council over the incident, according to WLWT-TV. Kass was offered the same position for a female suite.
“The problem is, I’m a male-identified person,” Kass told WLWT-TV. “As soon as I’m in a space that is all female, my identity gets erased.”
I don’t even know what that means. I’ve read it three times and I don’t get it.
One hilarious side note is that the University of Miami actually offers housing specifically for “transgender” students. And they’re still getting in trouble. Sheesh, there’s no pleasing some people.
Her argument kinda’ defeats itself if you ask me. When I was in college, if I was told I could go live in the all-female dorm I’d have been packed and walking into that place carrying three cases of wine coolers in about three minutes. But I think that way because I’m a dude. She’s not.

Not the University of Miami (Florida) but my alma mater, Miami University (Ohio). Yes, this is happening at an Ohio college — not east or west coast — one with a big business school and surrounded by farms. This stuff is everywhere, folks.

What is the difference between "male-identified" and wishful thinking that is truly as pointless as pointless can be?

Was the following a typo (affirmative meant to be negative)?
The university pretty much said "but you're a dude"

How do we know that the transgendering really worked? Could be he is still a she. This does need to be addressed in court. Her vital statistics, her birth certificate, says "female". If she/he goes off hormone therapy he's back to being a she. Prove it in court.

I thought identity had nothing to do with gender, sexual orientation, or race. Sheesh!!!

"How do we know that the transgendering really worked?"
and in all likelihood she/he hasn't started hormone therapy. and the thing is "it's all about me" that is the attitude she/he is bringing not concerned as to what potential roommates or dorm mates are going to think

So if I think I'm a professor, I'm entitled to teach a class. If I think I'm a bird, I'm entitled to nest in a tree?
Genetically, you are always male or female. One day, future cultures will look back on these "transgendered" persons and the culture that supports it as an egregious assault on bodily integrity.

"But I think that way because I'm a dude. She's not."
Sir, I bow to the awesome power of your logic. But apparently logic now lives in off-campus housing with a couple of 30-year-old grad students who never pay their share of the power bill.

I love this stuff. And if I self-identify as a ham and cheese on Jewish rye, do I get to live in the deli???
Besides being self-identified, one can also be self-deluded.

Even if a transgendered person has gone through all the physcial transformations to be able to identify as the other gender they still have not been socialized as that gender. It's all too dicey for me.

I live with a situation like this in my workplace and it's extremley confusing. And what makes me crazed is that is you don't agree with everything they say, you are being a bigot.
What ever happened to respect and the ability not to agree??? Often now, respect is automatically assumed to mean agreement!

I am a transhemo person. Although I was born an O-, I self-identify as AB+. I have sued for all my medical records to be changed to reflect my wish to be recognized as a universal blood receiver. It doesn't matter that I have lived as an O- individual since birth or what I may be genetically; in my heart I know I am AB+. In case of an emergency, I want to be able to receive any blood type available, and will sue any doctor or medical entity that insists on giving me O- blood only.
What do you figure are my chances?

I'm in the same boat as transhemo, only I am actually a UNICORN trapped in a human body. I realized when I was about seven years old that something was missing from the middle of my forehead.
Now I just need to convince society to accept me in all my unicorn-ness and the insurance company to fund the surgery. And medically-necessary gold pixie dust. And unicorn feed. (What do they eat, anyway?)

Margaret-
flowers, nectar and honey.
By the way, you need more orientation counseling– you said "they," not "we." Clearly, you're suffering from after-effects of years of your true self being denied.

So true, Foxfier! Now we see the violence inherent in the system!
No, wait. Wrong line. Help me here. I'm sure there's something Pythonesque to be thrown about decrying patriarchal oppression and self-loathing… 🙂

"“The problem is, I’m a male-identified person,” Kass told WLWT-TV. “As soon as I’m in a space that is all female, my identity gets erased.”"
Well, yeah. Because when you're surrounded by women, it becomes clear YOU'RE A WOMAN.

Is the complainant ridiculous? Yes. However, they may actually be suffering from a real brain disorder or chemical imbalance, and while the article show the absurdity of the case, our sarcasm does nothing to heal the wound, or to make a place for those who would do the research to learnwhat I necessary to heal these people.
If you had some rare condition, and your only two options were to seek out those who thought it was real and not a condition, and those who were nothing but sarcastic, which would you choose? We have to be the third way just as we are with homosexuality: yes, it is an issue. No it is not right. Let us help you live out your human dignit as authentically as possible.
