Sigh. I ask, what is the point of having a Canon 915?
Cardinal Dolan was back at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and so was Joe Biden. Look at the commentary below from the Daily News. Isn’t this the very definition of scandal?
Among the faithful packing the pews was Vice President Biden along with his wife, Jill.
Biden received communion, despite his support for abortion rights.
Unlike his predecessor, Dolan does give communion to Catholics who stray from church dogma on abortion policy, saying he prefers to persuade them in discussion rather deny them the Eucharist.
Dolan and Biden had coffee after the service, though neither addressed the press.

"That being the case, that Palm Sunday palm is the biggest, gayest thing I've ever seen in my life. Why not just hang a disco ball of the end of it and get your funk on?"

I watched the Papal Installation Mass twice, and did not see Pope Francis give Holy Communion to heretics and schismatics Biden or Pelosi.
I stand corrected regarding Pope Francis personally. Thanks.
Any Cardinal, Bishop or Priest who KNOWINGLY gives Holy Communion to a public heretic or schismatic – is being disobedient to the Magisterium. In addition they are aiding and abetting in Scandal and Sacrilege.
Of course, Ed Peters, the canon law "expert," will never admit that publicly…

Those who hold secular power must be careful to not intertwine the State with religion. As a Catholic, I hope Biden stands opposed to abortion. However, by law, he cannot force his beliefs onto others. We must all understand that one may maintain the sinfulness of certain acts, but should leave the choice to perform them to those whose souls are at stake.
The legality of an act on earth does not determine its sinfulness before God. And the sinfulness of acts should never determine whether it is possible to perform them; it must determine, in one's own heart, his actions. Joe Biden has not sinned publicly by allowing others to make the choice to sin, and Cardinal Dolan does nothing wrong by not withholding the Eucharist.

That is a wholly irrational statement. Man-made law exists for the good of man – to uphold the Natural Law. Insofar as a man-made law departs from the Natural Law (objective morality knowable by reason) then that "law" is invalid and void. The intentional killing of an innocent human being is always and everywhere unlawful for violating one of the most fundamental prohibitions of the Naftural Law. A person doesn't lose his right to life because an invalid man-made law purports to take it from him. Every legislator has a duty to legislate in accordance with the Natural Law including the inviolability of all innocent human life. Every legislator is responsible for the laws he votes for. It is always and everywhere evil to vote for a law that purports to legitimise the killing of the innocent. No Catholic may receive HC if in a state of mortal sin, such as voting for unjust, evil and invalid laws. A minister of Holy Communion has a positive duty, to God, the individual and the Faithful not to permit ceetain profanation of Our Lord and create grave scandal by giving the Blessed Sacrament to such a legislator.

Dolan to Biden: Joe, naah, don't worry about hell . . . you're fine, you're fine. I just want to have coffee with you. That's all.

As a Catholic, I hope Biden stands opposed to abortion. However, by law, he cannot force his beliefs onto others.
Nevertheless, he can argue against abortion publicly, which he has failed or refused to do. That's not "forcing his beliefs onto others;" that's expressing an opinion, which he is allowed to do under the First Amendment.
Dolan to Biden: Joe, naah, don't worry about hell . . . you're fine, you're fine. I just want to have coffee with you. That's all.
Dolan just wanted to have a get-together with his soon-to-be neighbor at 666 Lava Lane….

Why should we expect Cdl. Dolan to deny Vice-President Joseph Robinette "Joe" Biden communion, when he wasn't denied it in Rome?

I agree with Ed Peters, the core of any fault here lies with the bishop of Biden's home diocese (is it the diocese of Wilmington?), not Rome nor New York City.

Well, the appropriate use of Canon 915 probably reduces the number of embarrassing pickets in front of churches, cathedrals, and bishop's chancery offices.

Rather than call out to him from the pulpit and welcoming him, which +++Dolan did, why not call him out from the pulpit and ask him to leave?

One word can be used to explain the Cardinal's actions on this and many other examples; COWARD.

Come to think of it, everyone who is scandalized by the Cardinal's poor (and that's an understatement) shepherding…mail him two balls (golf, tennis, billard, ping pong, bowling, basketball, baseball…or even marbles) to show him what he is lacking. Now how did one person put it…? Oh, yes…'he is lacking testicular fortitude'
