Academy Award winning actor Jeremy Irons didn’t exactly give a stirring defense of marriage here but hey, at least he raised some questions about it. He asked whether allowing same-sex marriage would open the door for interfamilial relationships. (It will.)

“Could a father not marry his son?” Irons asked.

He added that he worries that by legalizing gay marriage “it means somehow we debase, or we change, what marriage is. I just worry about that.”

He then switches the subject to how much he likes his dog or something. But you could see the reporter did not like what Irons had said about marriage. Neither did those in the combox at the HuffPo. The word “bigot” came up pretty quickly.
