As if you needed another reason to keep your kids out of public school, this one takes the cake. This poster is part of the curriculum for health class for 11-13 year olds, according to Breitbart.
The father who reported this actually thought it was a prank at first. That’s how outlandish it is. And you know how in these kinds of stories, once the Mom or Dad finds them out, the school district might obfuscate or throw someone under the bus. But no. They’re defending it.
According to Fox News, however, district spokeswoman Leigh Anne Neal said the poster must be viewed in the context of a bigger curriculum, which she identified as abstinence-based for students in middle school.
“The poster that you reference is actually part of our middle school health and science materials, and so it is a part of our district approved curriculum,” Neal said. “However the item is meant to be part of a lesson, and so certainly as a standalone poster without the context of a teacher led discussion, I could see that there might be some cause for concern.”
Neal added that the curriculum is similar to those used by other schools around the country.
“The curriculum it is a part of, it aligns with national standards around those topics, and it’s part of our curriculum in the school district,” she said.
In fact, the curriculum, titled “Making A Difference,” is published by selectmedia.org and recommended by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) as a “pregnancy prevention intervention.”
As a father of a thirteen year old I would have my kid out of there so quickly. What an absolute horror. Do these people think destroying innocence is their job?

I'm surprised that parents are not aware of this being class material. It's nearly the same as what I was taught back in 1991 in my 8th grade health class. Maybe it's just that I went to a school in California and education was proactively progressive. It still is but I'm amazed that this wasn't considered a problem back then and now it is? Strange.

One of my children's 10th grade "health class" included sexual "fetishes" in which my child was taught that urinating on your partner is perfectly safe and normal and should be experimented with an "open mind".
I pitched a fit and that was the last "health class" my child attended.
They now offer an "opt out" for students uncomfortable with the subject matter, but the "fetish" class continues. 🙁

Yes, but none of you ever vote in your local school board elections.

I do, my mother works for the school!

Unfortunately, many do not vote in school board elections. These elections directly affect how the future generations will be formed and schooled. So the excuse of not having children or being an "empty nester" is not an excuse. I've seen poll workers flip the pages to get to my name so I may sign. And there are few names crossed out to show as having voted [I usually get to my polling place and hour before it closes]. Some pages don't have a single name crossed out!
It's not surprising this type of "sex ed" is presented to our kids. When parents aren't aware who sits their kid's school boards, or when they're "too busy" to vote. No wonder it's easy for school boards to pass this stuff on to children. And at the same time undercut parental authority.
Tammy Bruce, in her book The Death of Right and Wrong, warned of the Left's efforts to transform the culture by "destroying the values that define civilization" 10 years ago . In chapter seven,"Destruction of the Innocents: The Left Targets Children," Bruce wrote of all the Left's attacks on values and culture, "the sexualization of children is the most pressing and menacing issue we face" Again, she wrote this 10 years ago. And why not? Whomever controls the children controls the future. Bruce was vilified and ostracized for her exposé by the Left Elite, especially the "gay and feminist subcultures." Bruce herself is a feminist and gay.
We are beyond the sounding of the alarm.

Wow, you guys sure are afraid of your kids *knowing things that exist and happen in the real world*. Ignorance may be bliss but it's also dangerous.
January 18, 2014 at 4:54 pm
@akg41470, I find your comment interesting. If protecting your kid's innocence is ignorance then no wonder we have such problems in our world. Kids that young do not need to know how to share their sexual feelings because they should be allowed to be kids. They will have more than enough time to be adults when they get older.

Knowing what type of reeducation it takes to get porn images out of your mind, how can presenting these picadillos to innocent youth help them develop a pure, positive and well integrated sex life in a future marriage? There seems to always be a piper to pay for our passions when they are not oriented to the "other" rather than the "self".

99% of kids below the age of that health class don't have sexual feelings anyway, so it'd just confuse them. However, when they DO start to have these feelings, they need to understand what they are and how to act appropriately. Hiding it *all* from them is dangerous, and that's how you get teenage pregnancies, unwanted children, sexual assault, etc. Educate them on what's happening to their bodies – at the appropriate time, of course, and this health class is right on target – and the problems solve themselves.
This lack of education is exactly what your pedophile priests prey upon.

How, exactly, does this fit into an "abstinence-based" curriculum?
January 19, 2014 at 2:07 pm
@Jonathan: How, exactly, are you reading into this as "these are things you should do"? Why can't this be a list of "these are things some people do", and how is that implicitly encouraging children to engage in them?
January 19, 2014 at 6:26 pm
If the goal is to encourage, why would they teach ways to express sexuality that are clearly not based in abstinence? It would be like an anti drug program teaching kids about various ways people use drugs. It's very much "don't do this (but here's how)."
January 19, 2014 at 6:26 pm
To encourage abstinence, that is.

If your in the system, everyone keeps their head down so they don't get on the wrong side of the "pedophile" teachers union.

I'm amazed by some of the comments here (akg41470). Understanding and discussing all the disgusting, disordered, and explicit things in the sexual realm is not necessary for any middle school aged child. I remember my 7th grade sex-ed class. We learned about how male and female bodies worked – which most of us had a basic understanding of anyway. We did not discuss the intimate details of sex or the other nasty machinations of people. I was taught about how condoms would save me from unplanned pregnancies, aids, and other std's though. Imagine my surprise when 1 out of 4 condoms I tried broke? Safe sex indeed. Girls and boys don't need explicit information about sex to understand it. I would argue that knowledge of specific sex acts and other perverted behavior leads to a desire to experiment in said areas. Being told how safe condoms and birth control were certainly won't help when condoms break or birth control fails.. These things were NEVER discussed. NEVER.

It's very telling, Nate C, that you are using such words as "disgusting", "disordered", "nasty", "perverted" to describe sex. Look who's got the "healthy outlook" here…

To paraphrase Seinfeld:
"And this list offends you as a moral person/father"?
"No, it offends me as a list-maker!"
I mean, who STARTS a list like this with "oral sex" and "Hugging" and puts "Talking" and "Holding hands" near the bottom? What the heck?
