Seth Rogen and one of the scriptwriters of AMC’s Breaking Bad are developing a show based on the twisted 90’s comic book series “Preacher” which portrays God as the antagonist. And spoiler alert…God gets killed in the end. And that, according to the comic, is a happy ending.
I’m thinking I’ll be sitting this one out.
Here’s part of the press release:
Preacher follows Reverend Jesse Custer, a tough Texas preacher who has lost his faith, has learned that God has left Heaven and abandoned His responsibilities. He finds himself the only person capable of tracking God down, demanding answers, and making Him answer for His dereliction of duty. Accompanying Jesse on his journey is his former girlfriend and a friendly vampire who seems to prefer a pint in the pub to the blood of the innocent. On his tail is one of the most iconic bad guys in print – an immortal, unstoppable killing machine named the Saint of Killers – a western lone gunman archetype whose sole purpose is to hunt and kill Jesse.
“This is a great piece of material for AMC, and we’re thrilled to begin working with the creative team behind it to make another iconic AMC series,” said Joel Stillerman, AMC’s EVP of original programming, production and digital content.
Seth Rogen is a pretty funny guy and Breaking Bad was a great show but no.

Seth Rogan and all of the people associated with this show are more concerned with money that the jewish religion they are descended from. But, then again, all of Hollywood is money, money, money. If we can make money off of God, so be it. Peace and God bless.

"vampires" really sucking the life-blood out of uninformed children. Diabolic blasphemy. Seth Rogan is a coward who refuses to accept his manhood in exorcising the devil.

Our God, Jesus Christ died to give us eternal life. Seth Rogan's god, himself, cannot give him one extra breath.

So glad I don't have cable TV. Another series I'm not paying to not watch.

I wouldn't sweat it, this is AMC guys, biggest cheapskates on TV, the only reason Walking Dead is still on air is because of the excellent first season and the source material also being popular, because if anyone else ran a show the way they've been doing the Walking Dead recently it'd be cancelled by the 3rd episode

It's based on a comic where Mary was raped by the archangel Gabriel. Garth Ennis—or Darth Anus, as I call him—is one of those bitter Irish anti-Catholics who are ten times as nasty as all but the worst Englishmen.
