Media and government officials are throwing up their hands, wondering why so many people seem distrustful of their advice about Corona.
Perhaps it’s because government and media have previously done so much to lose our trust. The media has distorted truth and weaponized their narratives for years, politicians have lied consistently. The Deep State attempted to unseat a President with a fake conspiracy.
And now, when the country is facing a real threat, many are suspicious and not listening. And they wonder why?
This stuff has real world consequences.
On top of mistrust we have rampant selfishness. Look at this quote from the NY Post which shows that thousands of young people are partying in Florida for Spring Break. “If I get corona, I get corona,” Brady Sluder, a defiant party animal of indeterminate age from Ohio, told Reuters. “At the end of the day, I’m not going to let it stop me from partying.”
Hmmm. I wonder where young people got the idea that they could live in a consequence free environment? I wonder why so many young people don’t think of others before themselves?
This virus is revealing who we are. And it may not be good.
As Christians we are called to care for the most vulnerable. So even though you may not be scared of the Coronavirus, we must act to protect the elderly, the sick, and those with preexisting conditions whose lives are threatened by this virus.

They learned it from patriotic moms and dads, who are not happy with this socialistic takeover, of our rights to assemble, to worship, to vote, to education, to travel and so much more. “At the end of the day, I’m not going to let it stop me from partying (substitute living life fully each day, from 73 Yr old retired woman, who resents the overstepping government officials using this health scare to deny us dining out, and health care for our for growing needs. As Americans, we have a right, to be discern how we want to respond to it, not have businesses shut down, in fear. I'm sure, no matter, what they do, we will all this virus anyway.

Agree. So much fear mongering. How come no fear mongering about the tiny babies bring ripped out of their mother's wombs? Or outrage of Granny dying of euthanasia? Sorry I forgot, cause we can close our hearts and eyes, to the most vulnerable, unless it affects us.

The reality is simple, we will all hang together United, not by fear, but by love of neighbor enough to deny ourselves, or we will find ourselves in a dystopia born of indifference, pride, selfishness, glutony, greed, rage, fear, sloth and ignorance.
The real world requires sacrifice for life to thrive. It means the little things like cleaning up our own acts in our own homes, and in our own back yards, and big things, like denying ourselves the luxuries we've come to presume as necessities when having them would jepordize others.
We have to be bigger than politics, better than politics, bigger than the media, better than the media, we have to be willing to love our neighbors because they exist, not because they agree with us. We have to be willing to sublimate ourselves so our country and our world can weather this storm. Easy? No. Necessary? Absolutely.

Sherry is absolutely right that we must love one another, but, if we try to do this our own, without God, we will not succeed! In prayer, we will be given the grace to grow in love of ourselves, God, our neighbots and hopefully in wisdom and be able to discern with the light of Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Indeed, we do need to beyond politics, the media , the government, and especially ourselves. God is LOVE, and in HIM we can hope to grow in the love of our neighbor.
