I hope Chick-Fil-A tells them to pound sand.
KFox TV: A new bill introduced would require any food service location at New York State Thruway rest stops to stay open seven days a week, something that directly challenges Chick-fil-A’s policy of closing on Sundays.
The restaurant chain is well known nationwide for closing on Sundays, a practice that’s been in place since the first restaurant was opened in Georgia in 1946.
In the summer of 2021, a $450 million project began at rest stops along Interstate 90 in New York, updating the buildings, adding electric vehicle charging station and bringing in new restaurants. The construction work is ongoing to complete renovations at all 27 rest stops, but many locations featuring Chick-fil-A restaurants are already open.
The bill introduced in Albany would “require food services at transportation facilities and rest areas owned and operated by certain public authorities remain open seven days a week.” The bill is co-sponsored by Assemblymember Anna Kelles (D, NY-125), who represents Tompkins County and portions of Cortland County, including the city of Cortland. The bill’s sponsor is Assemblymember Tony Simone (D, NY-75) who represents part of Manhattan.
Soooo…how soon until it becomes impossible to call yourself a Christian and an American?

The irony is that a few years ago they forced businesses to stay closed. Now they are forcing them to stay open.

Outrageous anti-Christian discrimination — such a law would not survive a constitutional challenge.
If anything, they should bring back the blue laws and require most businesses to close on the Lord’s Day — but that won’t happen unless and until the Catholic Church resumes its mission to make disciples of all nations so American culture can be transformed into something wholesome and good.

This is strange for me to be siding with the state on something. I would say that the seven day a week requirement is probably what is asked of all of the contractors at the highway rest stops. If that is the case I see there is only one option for Chic -fil-A, comply or stand by your principles and drop the contract. I would think that the company knew of this when they signed the contract to operate at a seven day a week facility.

No, this is a new proposed law, a change in what had been allowed up till now, obviously intended to justify excluding Chick-fil-A from these facilities.

What businesses other than Chick-Fil-A will this legislation affect? Think about your answer and then think about what the true intent of these people may be.
