This is one of the most amazing stories I never knew. Watch these videos about a woman, Irena Sendler, who passed earlier this year. During WWII she risked her life to save children from the Nazis. A Catholic woman, she placed the children with Christian families and convents. Her story is amazing.

She was considered for the 2007 Nobel Prize.
Instead they gave it to Al Gore.

I read about her death while in Warsaw. She is a true hero, honored by the Poles and Jews alike. They were a very brave people in that war, as my visit to Auschwitz proved. I guess it is more fashionable today to value real estate over human lives– not unlike the Nazi plan to use Slavic countries for ‘living space.’ But I guess to Irena (pronounced, I think, ee-RAY-na), there were more important things. “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be.” And these days, Yad Vashem is a greater honor than the Nobel Peace Prize, if one prizes trees, however beautiful and valuable, over people.

What a beautiful story, thanks for finding and posting this Matthew.
How incredible is the contrast between Irena and the despicable excuse for a human being, Al Gore.

Tell us how you really feel about Al Gore, Tito. Don’t be so shy.
