Chief Supreme Court Justice John Roberts apparently gave the Notre Dame Fighting Irish a behind closed doors pep talk before the Notre Dame/ Michigan battle, says the Wall Street Journal.
Since Notre Dame amazingly won, I’m just wondering if Roberts should give more pep talks, maybe even going in and giving Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito a real stirring one. “Our opponent today, they say, is pretty good. The Roe V Waders have been on top us Originalists for over thirty years. But today is a new day. We’re gonna go constructionist on them and they won’t know what hit them. They’re gonna’ throw precedent at us! They’re gonna scream ‘stare decisis.’ They’ll invent the right to privacy. But nobody and I mean nobody pushes around our Constitution. Let’s go out there and take our country back! Let’s go!” They all run out the door screaming and Scalia starts a pushing and shoving match with Kennedy in the tunnel. Thomas stares down Ginsburg. John Paul Stevens is too frightened and runs back to his office, refusing to come out for hours.
Go Originalists!

Coach Lou Holtz’ amazing pep talk helped spur on The Irish as well. The speech was on the main UND Web site yesterday and I wasn’t able to find it today to keep linking to it, but he was “on fire.” Here’s a link that talks a little about it. (By the way, I was with my husband when he personally interviewed Lou Holtz at Notre Dame years ago and Lou was talking about how he says the Rosary to Our Lady each and every single day. He’s an amazing guy.)

We love Lou. Hopefully, in a few years, ND will bring in Skip Holtz as the coach.
