I’ve heard of celebrities wanting to abandon America should a Republican win but this is the first time one has promised to leave the planet. According to ABC News, Tina Fey will exit our planet if John McCain and Sarah Palin win.
They say all good things must come to an end. Tina Fey’s spot-on impression of Sarah Palin may be no exception.
The comedian/writer/producer/media mogul of the moment will not be playing Palin after Election Day if the Alaskan governor assumes the vice presidency.
“Election time is always good for [‘SNL’] and this is a bonkers election,” the “Saturday Night Live” alum told TV Guide. “And that lady is a media star. She is a fascinating person, she’s very likeable. She’s fun to play, and the two bits with Amy [Poehler], that was super fun.”
But regarding her plans to continue her uncanny impersonation of Palin on “SNL,” Fey said, “We’re gonna take it week by week. If she wins, I’m done. I can’t do that for four years. And by ‘I’m done,’ I mean I’m leaving Earth.”
I bet it gets pretty boring up on the international space station so I bet they could use some laughs up there. Bye-bye. Buckle up.

I have a sinking feeling Tina will not need to leave her front stoop after the election. I simply do not have faith in the American public at this point. It’s good to wish for the best, but I am definitely planning for the worst here.

Don’t believe the polls. Here is a snapshot from Nov. 1, 2004. Remember how we felt then?

I agree with you. I absolutely don’t believe the polls. But I am getting my info from a number of sources and forming my own baseline. And like I said, I’m just not really optimistic at this point.

Right, but current polls are much more in favor of Obama than the polls then were in favor of Kerry. It’s hard to predict a winner when the polls are so close. That’s not the case this time.

So if Tina leaves Earth should McCain win, does that mean Sarah Palin will play Tina’s part on 30 Rock in her spare time?
Re: the polls. I don’t believe them either, but I do look at the history of these pre-election polls. They are published for one reason, and one reason only: suppress the Republican vote.

So the polls following the GOP convention showing McCain ahead – what was their purpose?

It was panic city back in 2004 for all those CINOs who saw the great dark shadows of Kerry and Heinz lower over the skies of America. Polls for Bush were bad…but there was at least a tad more civility than all the thuggery now coming from most of our progressive brethren in the media, government and acadmia. Zogby had Bush losing even after the polls closed…and Zogby then was considered the most accurate poll. So for all the willy wetlegs out there…get a little spine.

Because exit polls in Ohio indicated that Kerry won the State.

about polls – they’re never perfect, but I think with poll after poll showing Obama way in the lead…that might mean something! I always find it amusing that people believe polls when they are what they want to hear, and make excuses for them when they are not. Of course you have to consider the sampling method and possible problems like the Bradley effect, but I wouldn’t write off a whole group of polls so easily.
Oh – and the fact that they’re not reaching many of the younger generation b/c many of us use cell phones only is not good for McCain. I bet in the cell phone only crown Obama is even further ahead. And I think Obama will help bring out more young voters than ever before. Just my guess.

I took Fey to mean that she couldn’t hack doing the impression for four solid years, not that she was bailing on America.
She may want to do that as well, but this quote is only referring to playing Palin on TV, I think.
