I just came across the devastating news that Michael Dubruiel has died. Michael was a Catholic author, speaker, and blogger and of course husband to Amy Welborn. Amy writes simply…
Michael collapsed this morning at the gym and was not able to be revived despite the efforts of EMTs and hospital personnel.
We are devastated and beg your prayers.
Please, please pray for Michael, Amy, and their entire family.

What a shock…especially for being such a young man. May the Lord watch over Amy and her dear ones, and grant eternal life unto his faithful servant Michael.

May he rest in peace. my family’s prayers are with Amy and her children. I cannot imagine what she is going through right now. May God give her strength and consolation.
FYI – Father Z is collecting spiritual bouquet posts.
Amy has requested that those who would like to help should buy Michael’s books because the proceeds go directly to their kids college fund. Lisa Hendey at Catholic Mom is helping with that request at http://new.catholicmom.com/2009/02/04/february-book-club/.
Michael Dubruiel’s great book on the Mass moving up the charts at Amazon. I don’t know where it was yesterday, but it’s taken a huge jump already today as we all work together to support the family.
Danielle Bean has also established a support fund to a donation fun to help their children at her site: http://daniellebean.com/2009/02/04/please-help-spread-the-word/

I was so saddened to read this news. As a father myself, my deepest fear is that I will die, leaving my wife to care for our young children without my help. So this news *really* struck a nerve with me.
I have seen this news on several blogs, but I haven’t seen anyone mention the information from this article:
My husband, the priest
Evidently Mr. Dubruiel was not only a husband, father, and Catholic author, but he was and is a priest forever.
May he be welcomed into heaven as God’s good and faithful servant, and may his family be given abundant grace and blessings.
