Nancy Pelosi was asked by CNS what she would do if Republicans who voted against the continuing resolution this morning were angling again to remove funding from Planned Parenthood.
And our favorite Catholic congresswoman Nancy Pelosi said:
“Let’s hope that they’re not playing games with us–and now we are getting into games,” Pelosi said, when asked by CNSNews.com how committed she would be to stopping a provision to defund of Planned Parenthood.
“Why don’t we come back and have another press conference after they say what they are going to do,” said Pelosi. “Because I think it’s a waste of your time and my time to speculate on the horrors that they could come up with–because we know they are endless and we could be here a long time.
Sooo…defunding Planned Parenthood would be a “horror?”
What kind of sick twisted mind thinks that way?
You know what the real horror is? Babies are being torn apart every day by the thousands and the party of death is willing to shut down the entire government in order to keep footing the bill for their Big Abortion buddies. That’s a horror.
You wanna’ know the other horror? The “pro-life” Republican Party doesn’t have the stones to force them to do it. They might talk about it. They might even threaten it. But they’ve proven time and again that they’re simply not as committed to life as the Democrats are to death. Now, that’s a horror.

So, did the Hon. Mrs. Pelosi ever have that meeting with her bishop
as she agreed during the '08 elections? I recall that she promised to
talk with him about her advocacy for abortion and the public
scandal it is causing. After three years, I think it's safe to say that
her bishop has been blown off in front of the entire nation.
Actually, the cynical part of me suspects that both parties always knew
that there would be no meeting, that the promise of one was just lip
service on the part of both the congresswoman and the bishop, playing
the public for chumps with short attention spans.
Seriously, what would it take to get our bishops to act and be
seen to act when it comes to persistent, serious, public scandal like
the career of Nancy Pelosi?

OT,
but are y'all going to comment on the disgusting campaign being waged against Santorum? It seems to be allowed to stay because no one is talking about it. Even if you disagree with him on some issues, we should stand with him and say:
I am Rick Santorum.

Atheism, abortion, gay marriage, all sin denies the existence of the human being's immortal soul. Since man is composed of body and immortal soul, every sin erases human beings. Since our Creator infuses sovereign personhood into the soul at conception and endows the human soul with unalienable rights, to deny the immortal soul of the human being is to deny every person unalienable rights. No person has any acknowledgeable human rights under our government. Like cattle, every person is a taxpayer for the government, expendable, replaceable, and irrelevant.

Without taking sides in the Father Pavone case, because I have no idea of the specifics and will go with the default position of support the Bishop for now, I would love to see our Bishops go after wayward, pro-infanticide politicians with the same vigor.

and yet, we keep giving this woman Holy Communion.

@Fr Bill Peckman: Why is that Fr. Bill? I do recall a couple of canons being violated in the process. Does the bishops of San Fran and DC not care about being negligent in their pastoral duties specially with a grave scandal involved?

Stu – you are spot on…where are our bishops and when will they show some gumption for ending the public scandal of pro-abortion "Catholics"
September 23, 2011 at 3:41 pm
Ah, Nancy Pelosi. SHE'S the horror. Such a strong advocate of the "choice" to kill the unborn, if only her convictions about "personal choice" extended to the light bulb. I wonder if there is something wrong, mentally, with a person who goes after the incandescent with the same fury with which she defends infanticide?

This whole business of withholding Communion. What if, rather then telling people that they shouldn't be receiving if they are living a life in contradiction to Church Teaching, the Church made a loud statement about what it is we do, when we receive. Saying "Amen" to "The Body of Christ" means that you ACCEPT all the Church Teaching. That you AGREE with what the Church teaches. That, by receiving, you implicitly consent to the idea of abortion being wrong, marriage = one man + one woman, contraception is wrong, etc., etc., etc.
Perhaps more Catholics would refrain from receiving, if they knew they were agreeing to all that. In my wayward, fallen-away days, as I stumbled back to church, I would have been horrified to have stood with the Church on issues I didn't helieve in and I sure would have not been receiving Holy Communion until I came into line with Teaching. Not because I cared about offending Church, but because I wouldn't have wanted to compromise my own principals, such as they were.
The Obamas didn't leave Rev Wright's church, thus we can conclude that they agree with his rhetoric. Thus, "Catholic" politicians should be on the defensive with their wacky special interest groups, merely by their presence in the pew. "Well, Pelosi/Reid/Anyone Kennedy" if you are really for us, you shouldn't be in that church anymore."
The Church shouldn't be the one in the defensive position. It should be up to the wayward Catholics to explain WHY they are going through the motions of being a Catholic, if they don't really agree with what the Church teaches.
Just a thought.

She needs to be publicly condemned by her bishop. Get a backbone.
September 24, 2011 at 1:25 am
When she says "us", who exactly is she referring to? The royal we? Or her + PP= "us"?
September 25, 2011 at 1:49 am
Indeed, this woman is TEE-WISTED! Has she ever acknowledged the REAL horror?
September 25, 2011 at 3:12 am
@Elodie: Saying "Amen" to the Body of Christ means YES to Jesus Christ's passion and death. Somebody ought to tell Nancy Pelosi so she knows.

Is this Wicked Witch of the West STILL alive?
September 26, 2011 at 3:36 pm
It's simple, if you are for PP and abortion, you are against human beings. NP would not be welcomed into my church until she made a full renunciation of this position. Anything less is to be complicit in her sin. I am sure St. Paul would do the same.
September 26, 2011 at 7:28 pm
No, the real horror is that she's not been excommunicated. She walks right into the Vatican, has a lovey-dovey session, and walks away with her head in the air, a Catholic in good standing. That is how seriously our Church is impacted by corruption right now. It runs bone deep.
September 26, 2011 at 9:45 pm
Well you can imagine how a Pius XII would have received her, i.e., he wouldn't have. He would have sent some low level official to meet with her privately and after the boring niceties would have asked her what her business is in Vatican City. Curt and cold.
