Police in the UK have told the owner of a Christian café to stop displaying Bible texts on a video screen, because it breaches public order laws, according to Christian.org.
Wow. Western civilization no longer has to point to the metaphorical slippery slope. We’ve slipped down the slope so far that now we’re just reporting on what the thud sounds like.
I, once again, quote Russian poet Tanya Khodkevich who was sentenced to ten years by the Soviets for writing this:
You can pray freely
But just so God alone can hear.
What happens if this cafe owner persists in displaying Bible quotes? Fined until he’s run out of business? Jail?
Western civilization is headed straight to hell folks. We’re just arguing about how many seats are in the hand basket now.

He could display quotes from the Koran or Muslim imams about homosexuality, invite the police to visit, videotape their visit, and put THAT on YouTube. Fun for all!

Britain — the Cuba of the Northern Hemisphere (but with crappier food).

Britain has the idiot who thinks he came from the law of gravity and with no immortal soul, therefore, he has no identity, no name and no destiny. With no immortal soul, he has no unalienable rights. The shop keeper has to prove to the authorities that he has a rational soul.

Suddenly, it's 1984.

Last summer I watched at least a dozen documentaries on the Holocaust. Over and over I saw Jews who refused to leave Europe until it was too late because they simply could not believe what was happening. It was so surreal they could not accept it until it was too late. This was not because they were Jews, but because they were human. In hindsight it is painfully obvious what was happening.
And it is painfully obvious to me that we are in the early stages of history repeating itself. Many people, especially Christians, will scoff at this idea, but you are so right. We're just arguing about how many seats are in the handbasket now.

So, Christians are the new Jews. And the Jews are still the Jews, too. Well, Christians, what will we do? Will we fight back? Or invent cute YouTube gags and wring our hands? Isn't the choice either to act touchy like Muslims or get replaced by Islam? No? Okay, what is a third way?

@Fr. Frank — And with crappier music, too.

All Christians should come to America now – illegally if need be – lets see the leftists stop "illegal immigration" since they don't when it comes to our southern border. Christians are being slaughtered all over the middle east and africa and now harassed in the UK – there is strength in numbers – come to America.

The English is all about the law. How that law got turned against Christian believers is not a stretch considering the Muslim barristers and politicians there. I guess they don't have committed movers and shakers to stand for Christian rights in the public square. Or if they did, then those guys must not have been the sharpest knives in the shelf.

In some towns in the USA displaying a bible publicly is reported to get the owner of a commercial establishment a citation for "disturbing the peace". Do not ask "For whom the bell tolls" . . .

It is high time for a direct confrontation. Defy the authorities, make them arrest you and spread the news about it everywhere. Don't vote for the politicians who support this oppression. If there is no choice, don't vote at all. Challenge the system head-on like the early Christians did. Above all – do not compromise.

Anonymous (3:49) said, "Challenge the system head-on like the early Christians did."
No, early Christians did not challenge the system head-on; they obeyed it when they could and ignored it when they couldn't, because (1) they were not a political movement and (2) that kind of political movement only works in certain kinds of environments, of which the Roman Empire was decidedly not an example. What the early Christians did was to continue to preach the Gospel with the objective of winning souls, not changing statutes.

What the first Christians did that we also should do is to be absolutely unbending and uncompromising in living out their beliefs. They were willing to lost their jobs, their comfort, and even their lives in order not to betray the Faith. We need to get decide now if we are going to be like them (by God's grace) or if we want to just kneel down and worship the Almighty State, and lose heaven in the process.

Don't think coming to the US will save you – the anti-Christian bigots are on the warpath here too, though not yet so successfully as in Europe.

England is a violent, vulgar hellhole right out of an Anthony Burgess novel. The secularists have destroyed that culture almost entirely.

There is no slippery slope, except for us who lament the direction things are going. For those causing the currents, the way is well mapped, well defined, and going exactly according to the intended itinerary. The slippery slope is a myth.

Publicly displaying non-state-approved Christian materials was a crime in England from Henry VIII up to 1829. Why are you surprised that they're just putting those laws back in, with a slightly modified range of approved Christian teachings?
Remember, English Protestantism was the original ideological revolution—quick, what country did Rousseau study politics in, and Marx study economics? Oh that's right. England.
And the English Reformation killed more than twice as many people as the French Revolution's Terror, 50,000 to 20,000.
