Actor Rupert Everett has come out. And it’s causing people to freak out and call him terrible names.
Everett came out as gay many years ago and I don’t really remember anyone calling him terrible names. But now that the actor has said something against gay adoption, the name calling starts.
The Telegraph reports:
The star of the 1998 film Shakespeare in Love blazed a trail for gay actors when he came out as homosexual 20 years ago.
However, he has been criticised by gay rights groups after giving an interview in which he decried same-sex couples who have children.
The 53-year-old told the Sunday Times Magazine that his mother Sara had met his boyfriend but “still wishes I had a wife and kids.”
“She thinks children need a father and a mother and I agree with her,” he said. “I can’t think of anything worse than being brought up by two gay dads.
“Some people might not agree with that. Fine! That’s just my opinion.
I checked out the HuffPo story and I’m not going to link it but believe me they’re excoriating him over there in the combox.
Kudos for him having the guts to say it. It’s kinda’ funny in that orthodox Christians are supposed to be the intolerant ones.
It’s safer to come out as gay nowadays than it is to come out as saying children do better with a mommy and a daddy.

“I can’t think of anything worse than being brought up by two gay dads." The child has no male model and no female model, only a fake mother and a gay dad. If they had not matured, how will they help the child mature?

Huzzah for truth and honesty! I just hope that Rupert doesn't get hurt by the 'tolerance' junkies.

Good for him.

Hmmm, in the same breath he also said there are too many children on the planet.

It's all pretty stupid. Christians didn't like the openly gay guy and the gays did. Now he says something against the militant gay agenda and they hate him and we like him? It's all just a bit weird.

Proteios,
Who said Christians didn't like the gay guy? Making a blanket statement like that is what is stupid. You must know that Christians oppose same sex behavior not the person. You must know that among Christians, as among any group, there are variations and levels of belief and understanding and charity. I can oppose a homosexual lifestyle but like the ssa person just like I can oppose other immoral actions and still like the person (but I will pray that they correct their behavior and make amends). I can even oppose the behavior and be neutral on whether I like the guy because as is the case here, I don't know the guy.
