OK. This woman is 76 years old. Norton attended high school in the 1950's, and graduated college or university in the early to mid 1960's. She was educated during a time when education was not yet fully under the grips of political correctness and feelings über alles.
This woman was born and matured in the what is arguably the most turbulent time of the 20th century, and she comes up with this? This is excusable if there is something that is out of her control and she doesn't recall her formative years. But if everything is OK…
Reminds me of a woman who rushed into a bookstore a few years back and asked the clerk to help her find a book on the “American war.” The clerk asked if she meant the Revolutionary War or the Civil War, perhaps. “No. No.” the woman said. “I mean the one with Hitler.” Non-sequitur you say? OK, but just as dumb as Norton's comment.

Being from DC she can't vote. Then I'd be really worried. But, she is able to maintain a seat on committees. So they let her hang around and party with all the black caucus bunch.
She'll probably die in office, hanging on to the very end. And of course, with remarks like that. I wonder if her brain has already moved on, into the great beyond.
