I’ve read countless books on the Shroud of Turin and have come to believe that it is the burial cloth of Jesus.
Glenn Beck is learning about what actually went on with the infamous carbon dating study.
Is the debate over the Shroud of Turin over? Many Christians believe it was the burial cloth of Jesus and even non-Christian scientists struggle to explain how the image of a man was imposed onto it. But some scientists have claimed that carbon dating has proven it is much younger than previously thought. However, Shroud of Turin Research Project Official Photographer Barrie Schwortz joins Glenn to explain why he’s refuting that claim. According to Schwortz, who was once a “total skeptic” of the Shroud, the carbon dating was improperly done. Instead, he believes the most plausible explanation is simple: “This is the burial shroud of the historic Jesus of Nazareth.”

If you want to do a deep dive on the subject, here’s a 3-hour interview with Fr. Andrew Dalton by Matt Fradd on the Shroud from six months ago.

I completely agree, Trubador. Fr. Dalton is not only the most knowledgeable expert on the Shroud I have ever come across, he is also engaging, funny and is just a great guest on Matt Fradd’s “Pints with Aquinas” show. There are other presentations by Fr. Dalton that you can find online, but they aren’t the greatest quality in terms of audio or video. Here is a link to the full 3+ hour interview of Fr. Dalton by Matt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAbuG-oVq1Q

According to the revelations of Our Lord to Maria Valtorta, the Shroud is genuine. See this article: https://divinefiat.blogspot.com/2022/05/the-shroud-of-turin-is-absolutely.html

I believe that it is the our Lords burial shroud. I can’t prove it. I just know it is. Even if it is found out that it is not it won’t matter because my faith isn’t based a death shroud but in our living Lord Jesus.

Bob
You don’t have to prove it. STURP certainly has though. The Carbon dating is flawed. Rest assured you are correct.

I believe Jesus is the saviour of the world. That he was the second person of the Triniity and that one day I will meet him…I hope. But I don’t find it necessary to believe the shroud is real. Suppose it was dated to the exact time Jesus was crucified. Who is to say it wasn’t someone else? And I doubt it can be dated to the month or even the exact year. What is more important to me is not only believing Jesus was who we say he is but living a gospel life. It would be great to think the shroud is the real thing but either way it won’t change my belief his Christ crucified.

After all it’s a matter of faith and like a multitude of miracles, belief that this shroud bears the image of Christ crucified beckons us to Rise up and walk again and again in faith and Divine Mercy.

It’s my understanding that the material taken for theccarbon dating was taken from an area of the Shroud that was repaired around the 13th to 15th Centuries to an area of the Shroud that had suffered from fire damage. So obviously the carbon dating would falsely indicate the actual date of the Shroud. Folks, IT IS the burial cloth of Jesus the Christ.

What a beautiful comment by Bob. I have had a fascination with the Shroud of Turin since the 1970s. I believe it is the linen burial cloth of Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior. The carbon dating by the British was a farce compared to the empirical scientific analysis revealed many years before. The image is scientifically inexplicable.
Jesus performed miracles. This was one of them.
Our God is the God of the living; for even the dead, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all believers are living. Matthew 22
