Court Abortion Verdict Raises Religion Question

The Politico raises an interesting point about what the five justices who voted to uphold the ban on partial birth abortion have in common -they’re all Catholic. (Scalia, Thomas, Roberts, Alito and Kennedy)

Expect the attacks to begin. They, in fact, may have already begun with a not so subtle dig from Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Ginsburg wrote in her dissent that the court for the first time “blesses a prohibition with no exception safeguarding a woman’s health.”

Blesses. That wasn’t a word come by lightly. It may just be a disturbing warning shot by the secular elite. I expect the Justice’s Catholicism to be brought up increasingly in weeks and months to come.

We’ll need to listen to arguments about Church/State Separation and how the Pope is indirectly dicating our policies. I wish I were exaggerating.
