First the good news – Rising immigration has fueled 26-year fertility high in the UK. The average number of children in England has risen for a fifth straight year to 1.87

Now the Bad news. The last decade has seen a 77 per cent increase in births by mothers born outside of the UK, with the figure climbing to almost 150,000, or over a fifth of all babies, last year, according to The Telegraph.

In fact, Mohammed could soon become the most popular boy’s name in the country, as more and more Muslim parents choose to name their sons after the Islamic Prophet. The name was second only to Jack in last year’s registration of boys’ births. The name of Mohammed was given to 6,010 babies last year, compared to 6,928 children who were called Jack.Thomas, which now lies in third place at 5,921 registrations, and Joshua, which lies in fourth with 5,808 registrations.

This is not good for Europe. Much of what we loosely call the Western world may not survive the 21st century if these trends continue. It is said that civilizations die from suicide, not murder.

The global fertility leaders are Somalia at 6.91, Niger 6.83, Afghanistan 6.78, Yemen 6.75. Notice what those nations have in common?

Ireland is 1.87, New Zealand 1.79, Australia 1.76. Canada’s fertility rate is down to 1.5, Germany and Austria are at 1.3; Russia and Italy are at 1.2; Spain 1.1.

My prescription for Europe: Take the afternoon off. Bring flowers to your spouse. Make babies. Save Western civilization. Otherwise, how do you think that Vatican will fare in a Muslim dominated Italy?
