The issue of the infamous Born Alive Infant Protection Act was raised recently on CNN for the second time in a month. Seems like this vote won’t just go away, huh?
For anyone needing a reminder that bill was brought up after Congress heard testimony about babies who had survived attempted late-term abortions being thrown into medical waste bins to die or being “terminated” outside the womb. With the baby completely separated from the mother, it was impossible to argue that the health or life of the mother was in jeopardy by giving the baby appropriate medical treatment.
The act simply prohibited the killing of a baby born alive. Obama voted against it while even Ted Kennedy voted for it.
I do not believe this vote by Obama will go away and may indeed prove to be a motivating factor for many to vote against him. It is far beyond pro-choice. That vote is just plain old pro-death and I believe it shows the real Obama.
In a recent report, CNN shows McCain promising to protect the life of the unborn and then that serpent James Carville defends Obama by not dealing with the radical pro-death vote by Obama, but by attacking the nurse who acted as a whistleblower to prevent the killing of babies who survived abortions. Carville attempts to dismiss the whole issue by simply saying she was fired.
Mind you, that nurse is Jill Stanek who is one of the great pro-life advocates of our time. This out-of-the-blue attack is simply a continuation of the political game known as killing the messenger. Mind you, Obama’s vote had nothing to do with Jill Stanek being fired. Jill Stanek was fired because she stood up to the hospital and exposed this barbaric practice.
Kudos to CNN for raising the issue twice. But as this issue resurfaces, I hope Jill Stanek is ready for the attacks which are sure to come her way. It’s only just begun.

let us all pray for the protection of Ms. Stanek and that all those deceived by Obama would have the scales removed from their eyes. Jesus, help us.

Senator Obama is basically a coward–hiding behind affirmative action, hiding be his pro-abort financial support, hiding behind left-wing foundations, hiding behind associates who are former terrorists, and hiding behind the utterly corrupt Democratic Party in Illinois and particularly Chicago.
His vote on this issue alone sums up the immoral foundation upon which this creature of a fatuous media has launched a campaign that threatens the integrity of our nation.
For this vote alone, Mr. Obama deserves to be dumped into the dustbin of historical also rans.

Anyone who hears the things this man has done and said and would still vote for him is a truly lost soul. It will be a blessed day when I no longer have to hear that man’s name.

I still don’t understand what Carville brings to the table as a political advisor. He eschews clarity on the issues in favor of going for the jugular. In this instance, he resorted to little more than naysaying the other guy.
Where’s the skill in that? This guy’s a blow-hard!

Renee, you’ve a lot of work ahead of you. Take a look sometime at the “Catholic” blogsite Vox Nova. Over there, they are preparing for the coming of the Promised One and Obama is their man. That our Catholic brethren (and sisteren) are so woefully benighted and misguided can be blamed on the bad bishops who’ve been in charge.

Renee, I truly wish I shared your optimism. So many odd and incalculable things have happend this year that I simply don’t have faith that McCain will win the election. I will definitely vote for him (although as I live in bluer than blue California, my vote is a throwaway) and have supported him even during the primaries before he was the front-runner. But I simply don’t have faith in the American public at large at this point to make the right decision here.

“That our Catholic brethren (and sisteren) are so woefully benighted and misguided can be blamed on the bad bishops who’ve been in charge.”
Good point, Anonymous. However, your statement bears an eerie resemblance to one that might have been made in espcially much of Northern Europe aound 1500 or so…for much different reasons but with the same results. There will be much work to do here for all the missionaries coming to convert the United States as well as our own homegrown new ones.

“I simply don’t have faith in the American public at large at this point to make the right decision here.”
I tend to agree. We’re letting the media decide for us. Like Chris Matthews, too many of us are relying on that thrill going up our leg.

Gosh, I guess I am an optimist because I simply do not believe that when most people walk into that voting booth they will throw the lever for Obama. I think there will be a lot of soul searching by many about whether they really want to walk down that road. I believe they will discover they do not.
I sure hope I’m right….

Thanks for posting this. I’ve been explaining how Obama voted on this issue to others and people just don’t know. They are horrified when they see. Jill Stanek’s testimonies left chills down my spine.
Voting against the “Born Alive” act, and continuing to cling to partial birth abortion for “the health of the mother” is beyond barbaric. It’s hard to believe that anyone who fully comprehends these processes could support them.
Then again, there were people who didn’t know, or didn’t want to know what was going on at Auschwitz either.
Someday, another generation will look back and see these politicians for the barbaric things they supported.

Didn’t we say “never again” to genocide? A nation gets the leaders it deserves, and as Socrates remarked, a tyranny is just a democracy grown tired.
As funny as it is to call Obama the Messiah, this man seriously scares me.

Do you think Obama might be the Anti-Christ?

“Do you think Obama might be the Anti-Christ?”
I don’t pretent to know, but they asked the same thing about Reagan.
Then again, someones gotta take the job.

Matthew, thanks for exposing Obama on this issue, and thanks for your concern.

With regard to the infamous Born Alive Infant Protection Act, let us remember that it was Senator Obama who LED the opposition to this bill. That makes him pro-infanticide. Even other pretty strong liberal Democrats supported the bill.
A truly heinous position on the part of Senator Obama….
