Since 2003, the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School cheerleaders have held up paper signs for the players to crash through at the beginning of games, sometimes the signs have Bible verses on them. That is, until now.
The Superintendent has now banned the cheerleaders from quoting Scripture in their signs – not because it offends lots of people. But because the school district might get sued. Mind you, they weren’t. But the fear is that they might one day get sued so they preemptively banished any mention of Jesus or scripture from the signs.
According to one news source the cheerleaders spent all summer making signs with an “inspirational” messages like “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. Timothy 1:7.”
So I guess cheerleaders aren’t allowed to do anything offensive. So underage cheerleaders all over America should just go back to gyrating half naked on the 50 yard line and everything will be just fine.
