A San Juan woman is under arrest. What did she do?
I warn you this is horrible so you may want to just skip this story.
a mother-to-be took Xanax that she’d allegedly gotten without a prescription from Mexico. She intentionally took a lot in order to induce early labor. One side effect of Xanax is, I guess, abortion. So when the baby was aborted due to the Xanax the woman attempted to flush the baby but the aborted baby was too large. She called the police, I guess, because she was bleeding. So in order to hide the baby, the couple wrapped the baby in Christmas wrapping paper and put it under the Christmas tree where police found the aborted baby.
And what’s the charge, according to news sources like Action4 News and Spero? Illegal use of prescription drugs, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence.
Don’t they all seem just a little beside the point?
Anyone who reads this knows that something awful happened but our culture is so bent that we have to file charges that skirt around the main issue that there was a baby killed.
Sorry if this spoils your day. But I warned you this one was bad.

I wholeheartedly agree that the woman should be charged with murder and our society is completely messed up. However, the charge "abuse of a corpse" is rather telling. If the government is calling it a corpse, they are acknowledging that it was a living human being at some point. At least that one charge does somewhat acknowledge the humanity of the dead child. But it is so ironic: the dead body of the child is more protected by the law than the living child was.

They do not want to use murder or man slaughter to avoid bestowing human rights on the baby?

Don't worry. This woman will one day recognize what she has done and will be tortured by it for the rest of her life. While this story and the charges brought on her are not nearly sufficient in terms of the child that has been killed, we must now pray fervently for this woman and her ability to cope with such an awful decision.

Abuse of a corpse (not a carcass) is an admission of the humanity of the victim.

Wow, that's a great observation. How sad. And true.

Has it occurred to any of you that taking an overdose of Xanax is a suicide attempt? The first commenter wants the woman prosecuted for murder and the fourth commenter gloats that she's going to be tortured for the rest of her life.
Look, please think for once that in order to induce an abortion she had to ingest the drugs herself, with all that possibilities of injury that causes. She wanted to be not pregnant so badly she was willing to nearly kill herself to do it, and no one here is willing to feel any compassion for her. Women really are nothing but baby jars to you guys, with no worth other than our wombs, aren't we?
