Two explanations for such a banner:
1) They are the most clueless people on Earth and had no idea what “WTF” means and are the laughing stock of all who view them.
2) They knew what “wtf” meant and did it in the saddest attempt ever to be cool and are the laughing stock of all who view them.
Either way…

There is a 3rd explanation.
Some kind of new church sign generator? Please? We can hope.
Seriously though? They couldn't even use "Fellowship" instead of "Friends"?

Even if they swapped the F and the W, they'd still have an internet acronym – "For The Win" – and FWT probably means something, too, but it could have been worse – what if their banners were "Friends, Meaning, Love" – that would've been really sad.

If I KNOWINGLY titled my adult catechesis program "Adult Sunday School" does that put me in the same category? I just couldn't think of a better title.

God writes straight with crooked signs.

Given the probable "touchy-feely" atmosphere within that church, I'd say "WTF" is accurate.

Years ago, Fr. George Rutler wrote that while Christians are called to be in the world but not of it, the trendy tend to be of the world but not really in it.
I think of this as Exhibit A of what he meant….

While I would love to pick those who are a part of my past {I'm a former protestant clergy & convert to the Catholic Church} I can't help but be reminded that to err is not exclusive to protestant sects. Proof? Sure thing. Here, direct from my FB inbox from a very nice and solidly Catholic Catholic friend:
"Anyhow, would you be kind enough to mention to her that the Catechism class…was started by the St.Patrick's Parent Ass."

Either way it's a distressful SOS
1. In case one, a Sign Of Stupidity
2. In case two, a Sign of Superficiality

idk, this is classic.

or it was intentional, as a marketing stunt….

The fact that we are making such a big deal of it probably says more about us than them…

I wish that a doctorate in Catholic theology used an English rather than Latin designation.
