Daily Mail reports:
A neuroscientist who conducts experiments on animals was targeted by activists who sent him razor blades allegedly contaminated with the HIV virus, it has been revealed.
University of California at Los Angeles scientist David Jentsch received the razors and a threatening note in a package sent to his home.
The Animal Liberation Front of North America said in a statement the package was sent by the ‘UCLA Justice Department’.
The exact nature of Mr Jentsch’s work is unknown but is thought to involve primate vivisection and the study of drug addiction.
‘The Justice Department at UCLA sent bloody AIDS tainted razor blades to David Jentsch at [his home address]; instead he should be living in hell which is where he will eventually end up desirably sooner rather than later,’ said the statement.
Nice, huh?
I wonder if that’s a different hell than the one filled with monsters that send razors to people with deadly diseases on them. The group has stated that they’re quite willing to use violence to attain their goals.
As of now, I’ve just seen nine news reports about this story. Just imagine for a moment the media firestorm that would be taking place if this were sent by pro-lifers to an abortionist.
We’d have news reports, news specials, a news conference from the President, commentators blaming Sarah Palin, Briston Palin, and Willow too just because, and possibly new laws outlawing pro-lifers from buying razor blades. But as long as its threats and violence in the name of cute animals (rather than little humans) it elicits slightly more than a shrug and a yawn.

Like all leftist political activists, the "animal rights" folks are off their rocker. I suggest that when they send out AIDS contaminated razor blades, the receiptants of such 'gifts' send the AR folks a straight-jacket! ROTFL!

Yeah what this guy did was horrible. But vivisection on any animal, esp. ones as sentient as primates is sick and wrong. As Catholics we should not be Cartesian in our outlook towards animals, saying that they are just really complex machines, they have no soul so its okay.

Mitch,
I didn't get it is ok from the post? What I got was that there is order in creation. The way I understood the post was that that human life is of a higher order than animal life. The people who sent aids infested razor blades to the human being haven't fully come to terms with that reality. My problem with your response, is that you sound like each of these wrongs are carry equal weight. As if all evil is of the same magnitude. I have a feeling that way of thinking is exactly how the folks dipping razor blades in aids lost their minds. Everything became gray and fuzzy….

Mitch, what makes an animal sentient? Why is it sick and wrong?
Without vivisection on dogs, insulin wouldn't have been developed. How many diabetics' lives were saved as a result?
Babies operated on in utero to correct spinal bifida are anesthetized as 17 weeks. Think they're sentient if they feel pain? Is ANYONE insisting that babies being aborted after 17 weeks be anesthetized to spare them pain? No, nut people like you are gettting their knickers in a twist over animals.

If they are ever caught, they should be tried by the Federal law outlawing booby traps. No one knows who will be injured by a booby trap. The Unibomber, Ted Kaczinski is still in jail. Hopefully they will join him.
