I was reading a piece about the LCWR at The National Catholic Reporter only because it was linked to by Pewsitter. It was all the usual pablun that the LCWR wasn’t happy. Are they ever?
But this line by Maureen Fiedler just jumped out at me.
One of the accusations against LCWR in the mandate was its emphasis on social justice rather than issues of sexuality or abortion. Funny thing: One might say the same thing about Pope Francis.
Yeah, except Pope Francis isn’t practicing reiki or yoga in St. Peter’s Square.
And Pope Francis drives around in his own little car, trying to avoid fanfare. Unlike some, who swerve towards every camera and microphone they can find.

I have read a review of INTO THE GREAT SILENCE, which sounds very Heaven; these poor dears are the countercultural (in the sense of being counter to any culture) reaction, INTO THE DISTRACTING NOISE.

"Now, Sr. Patricia McDermott, president of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, a large community in LCWR, said in an interview that "the points of direction for the future, I think are unacceptable — that the bishops would be looking at our materials, our publications, giving direction to the assembly. … That's not a conference that most leaders want to belong to." I'm sure she speaks for far more LCWR members than just herself."

With the social "safety net" in this country the poor are cared for. One could even say that they are over cared for to the extent that those who have the potential to care for themselves and their families are hindered by the disincentives built into public social programs.
Yet while the LCWR and the NCReporter would have us focus mainly on those poor, 4000+ innocent children will be murdered today and every business day for the foreseeable future.
4000+ innocent lives lost every business day!
What is wrong with those people?

Mr. Archbold, I do so appreciate all that you do and am most grateful for the Creative Minority Report (I drop by at least once a day!)but, I do not understand your need to explain away the the errors of this Pontiff.
We seem to find it easy to admit that we have had bad Popes in the past, why can we not admit that possibility today.
As to the import of this article I do believe that Ms Fiedler is correct; Pope Francis is clearly on the bus for the full ride.
While the Mass of the Ages is silenced among the FFI the nuns on the bus are allowed to continue their anti-Catholic caterwauling without consequence.
And, while he might not be practicing reiki he made his mindset quite clear when he uttered the following statement – “I also think with affection of those Muslim immigrants who this evening begin the fast of Ramadan, which I trust will bear abundant spiritual fruit."
Indifferentist at best, and in my mind truly blasphemous.
And yet, he is our Pope and we owe him our love and our prayers. But we must love him enough to speak the truth unambiguously; and in our prayers we must pray fervently that he may seek, receive, and respond to the graces necessary for him to turn and fulfill his task of strengthening the brethren.
Sadly, for now it seems, Humpty Dumpty reigns.

Except that this part was made up by the press and was not even in the mandate! Why are the Sisters still pushing this? Have they actually READ the mandate? Evidently not.

Fga, hang in there. I know it drives me nuts too. Just know that the Church will always be under attack. It always has and always will. Our pontiff is just a man and saint Peter denied Christ three times

John,
Thanks for the encouragement. At times it is too easy, (considering my own weaknesses) to feel alone, to wonder if I am the crazy one (the latter probably true!). It is always helpful to be reminded that there is indeed nothing new under the sun. Now, time for a beer and a good nights rest.

Whoa! Pope Francis is only trying to be simple. He's just trying to live out his vows as a religious. More from people who think they know better than the church.

Thank you, FGA, for saying what needed to be said, and thank you, John Christensen, for the encouraging reminder.
