Just hours before Iran flipped the switch and transformed themselves from a anti-semitic madhouse into a nuclear anti-semitic madhouse, one Rabbi is saying it’s beginning to feel a lot like the 1930’s – except he’s talking about how people who don’t want to see the Ground Zero Mosque built are kinda’ like Nazis. Because you must remember we’re the bad guys here.
Something like thirty religious leaders from California all signed a letter in support of the mosque. There seems to be some confusion between legality and morality on this point from liberals. I find this funny from the people who always talk about how they see ending the life of an unborn human as morally wrong but still defend its legality. You know the whole safe, legal and rare thing.
But anyway, back to the rabbi.
Rabbi Haim Dov Beliak said he worried that the dialogue surrounding the New York mosque and opposition to other mosque projects, including one in Temecula, Calif., echoed the growing anti-Semitic sentiment in the 1930s.
“The loneliness and isolation that Jews felt in the 1930s is palpable, but now it’s directed to the Muslims,” he said.
“To anyone who knows their history, history is not only the past, it’s a prologue,” he said. “Muslims around the world are watching.”
Do these people live in the same country as us? The same world? 70% of Americans are like Nazis? Seriously?
If you ask me, Americans have been extraordinarily wonderful since 9-11. Americans don’t burn down mosques or often go around beating up families of Muslims for the crime of being Muslim. We’ve bent over backwards to be sensitive, haven’t we?
It ticks me off everytime some radical Muslim kills someone or blows something up Americans get lectured about not hating all Muslims and how we must understand it’s a religion of peace. We’re all supposed to be inclusive but I guess inclusiveness doesn’t extend to the families of the victims of 9-11 who are against the mosque being built there. I guess they’re Nazis too.
It seems to me that about now Iran (you know the country with the government constantly calling for the eradication of Jews from the Middle East) would be a bit more worrisome than Americans who don’t think a mosque near the World Trade Center is a good idea.
I’m not crazy about calling people Nazis but if you’re going to do it, please save it for the guys who are lurching towards becoming a nuclear power and vowing to eradicate the Jooooooooos rather than the people who believe it’s insensitive to build a mosque right next to the site where radical Muslisms kills thousands of Americans.

Odd. I don't see the rabbi mentioning the word Nazi at all there. Nor do I see him calling those who oppose the mosque Nazis.
Do you care at all about the sin of false witness?

Rabbi compares bagels with blintzes. The Jews did not blow up any buildings in the 30s. They just went about their business when they became scapegoats. The Moslems attacked us and continue to rub our noses in a 13 ft. phallic symbol of their murder of innocent civilians.

Yawn! Is this guy serious?! What a joke.

Anon 1037 It is implied in and connoted by "echoed the growing anti-Semitic sentiment in the 1930s."

Aren't you just tired of everyone playing the "victim" card? Muslims are victims here? Please!

Matthew: It's not "right next" to Ground Zero. It is a solid 2 blocks distance, and it more or less completely obscured from any view of Ground Zero. Get it right.

Ahh yes, swallowed the talking points whole, have we? The ground on which this building is to be placed is the same ground as another building used to be. That building no longer stands there. You know why? Because the landing gear from one of the planes that struck the Towers flew into said building, which in turn led to the building's destruction.
But it's not ground zero, of course.
And let's also ignore that those attempting to build the mosque, community center, or whatever it's being called today, specifically referred to it as as the Ground Zero mosque before it became politically inconvenient.

Rick you don't seem to be very aware of Holocaust history. Anti-semitism did not necessarily mean Nazi in the 1930's. There were many people who were anti-semitic and in effect ALLOWED evil to happen without joining the Nazi party. It was this apathy that I believe the rabi was talking about. He never calls anyone a Nazi and this is dirty reporting at best.

Anon 1141: All Nazis are anti-semites though not all anti-semites are Nazis. So, it's covered via subsetting. We're not splitting hairs here.
"Dirty reporting?" This is not a newscast but a commentary.

You know, when the Nazis moved into occupied countries the first thing they did was send the Jews into the streets to clean them and prepare for the Nazi victory march. They would destroy Jewish homes and synogogues. Jewish families would be forced to wear stars, and would lose their jobs and family businesses. I think we can all agree that this is no where near the same time as the Nazi occupation for the Jews.
But there's an undestroyed Mosque already in existence, 5 blocks from where they're planning on building this one…I guess that would be considered the Muslim ghetto then? Because we're "forcing Muslims" to go there to worship instead. I don't know how this could get more sick and twisted…

Yes, we are in the spin phase of this little charade. Spin, mis-direction, and poll tested talking points now hold sway. Of course, the point is moot. The mosque will be built despite the offense it gives. And like ObamaCare, our Philosopher Kings will dictate to the Bitter Clingers.
And very slowly Islam will gain its foothold in Lower Manhatten. Step by step Sharia will be pushed, advocated, and at times forced on those who live and do business there. No, there will be no charging Sultans; instead there will be accomadation and fear. In 2-3 decades we won't even recognize Lower Manhatten. Heck, by that time its name will have changed to Little Mecca.

I guess if it's any consolation for us poor Catholics, all this does is underscore the fact that the Jewish "Clergy" is riddled with liberal crack-pots as well. The ADL (of which I am absolutely NOT a fan) came out in opposition to the proposed mosque. So, this rabbi is most likely posturing to get his face in the news. I'm surprised it wasn't Rabbi "Smiley" Boteach, since he's pretty much the expert at saying stupid things and chasing hte media for an extra minute or so of fame.
